From the streets
of New Orleans and the banks of the Mississippi, to the clubs of
Chicago, Roundhouse draws on American music to build a contemporary
sound all its own. Weaving together Jazz, Funk, Blues,
Zydeco, and Rockabilly, the band creates original material that is
familiar and fresh.
Roundhouse was
selected to represent Maine in the Semifinals of the "International
Blues Competition" in Memphis, TN. in January, 2006. The band has
also shared the stage with the likes of John Hammond and Luther "Guitar
Jr." Johnson.
Nominated for the
Seacoast Spotlight Award in the Blues and R&B category in 2004, 2005,
and 2006,
Roundhouse is becoming one of the more popular dance bands in the
Seacoast area. The band attracts a wide variety of people, including
local swing dance enthusiasts.
The band is
comprised of seasoned musicians, who combine experience and polish with
the grit required to really make their music jump. Members of
Roundhouse have shared the stage with
Emmy Lou Harris, The Eagles, Jonathan
Edwards, Tom Rush, Mountain, Shenandoah, James Montgomery, Frogman
Henry, George Winston, Bill Haley’s Comets, The Del Fuegos, and South
Side Johnny.
An evening
with Roundhouse is guaranteed to wear out those dancin' shoes.
Roundhouse is:
| Mike "Bullfrog" Rogers -
Blues Harp & Vocals: |
Bullfrog has been playin'
blues harp since the late 60's. His style is heavily
influenced by the great Sonny Terry. He has been playing in
the Seacoast area off and on over the years spending a great deal of
his career at the side of singer and songwriter John Perrault.
In addition to Roundhouse Mike can also currently be
found gigging with the folk group Salt River, as well as
providing seacoast area schools with harmonica workshops. For

| Buddy Shute - Guitar and
Vocals: |
Born and raised in
Memphis, TN, and spending 10 years in New Orleans, Buddy understands
the delta feel better than most in the seacoast area. A
talented guitar player and songwriter, Buddy lends his original material, as
well as his extensive mental library of great standards including
one of Roundhouse's signature cover songs "Zip A Dee Doo Dah".
Buddy also has recently engaged in a solo effort that
has yielded a new CD "Ozark Moon", also available
on cdbaby.com.

| Dave Graf - Guitar and
Vocals: |
From Frederick, MD, Dave
brings a highly experienced and varied sound to Roundhouse. He
has been playing Rock-n-roll, country, and Jazz for 30 years.
Dave spent 3 years touring with original members of Bill Haley's
Comets, and another 3 summers playing Jazz at the Harvard Faculty
Club. Dave currently participates in a
duo with Joanne Connolly, a trio with Doug Green and Pete Braddock,
and appears locally as a solo guitarist (Chet Atkins style).

| Doug
Green - Bass |
Raised in Connecticut, Doug has been living in southern Maine for
about 20 years. As a youngest brother he borrowed many a Motown,
Funk, and British Rock LP at an inappropriately young age from his
older brother and sister. While living in Florida through the ‘70s
(‘nuff said), Doug received a healthy diet of traditional and modern
jazz, with the occasional involuntary infusion of Disco. Doug plays
guitar, pennywhistle, and harmonica, but has focused on the electric
bass in recent years. His first live harmonica and bass performances
were with Graf&Green in the Portsmouth area in the late ‘90s. When
not gigging with Roundhouse, Doug’s bass can be heard in quieter
venues with the SeaSmoke trio with Dave Graf on guitar and Peter
Braddock on drums. Doug is the most recent addition to the
Roundhouse family and happy to be able to turn up his amp a little
and enjoy the feel of the music while friends and fans tap their
feet or dance with abandon. |
| Joe Rogers - Drums |
Born and raised the musician son of Mike Rogers
he started playing drums when he was 5. He spent several years
playing in bands that entertained many favorite seacoast venues.
Joe took a break to pursue his "day job", travel, and live
around the country.
When Joe's not gigging with
ROUNDHOUSE, you can find him playing throughout Maine and the
Seacoast with other local musicians such as
Joyce Andersen, Liz Lannon, and anyone else lookin' for that Fat
Back-beat. |
